Preparation and arrival
Our classrooms and residential colleges are air-conditioned, and the canteens are within walking distance, we encourage you to bring light and suitable clothing e.g. sportswear and sports shoes. Vests, shorts, skirts and flip-flops should be avoided. Be sure to bring an umbrella as well.
Please bring along with you some basic stationery e.g. notebook, pens and correction tape if you love to use your own for drawing and calculation.
Activities
During the camp, we will get you involved in a fun and hands-on project competition to design a robotic project, and go over the project rules to ensure you gain basic engineering knowledge and skill. You will learn more about the engineering majors offered by the university. Besides, we will take you to CUHK T Stone Robotics Institute, the new research hub of the university showing the state-of-the-art automation and robotics technologies. We will also take you through some more featured Engineering labs of other departments, and project demonstrations by our researchers and senior students. Towards the end of the camp, you will have dialogues with CUHK engineering professors.
Living on campus
Accommodation: You have three nights of accommodation at Morningside College in twin-room with shared bathroom facilities. Room assignments are made by the Faculty of Engineering and we do not accommodate any individual request for roommate pairing in order to experience the true hall life.
Meals: Free breakfast, lunch and dinner will be arranged for you during the camping period at different university student canteens.
Weather
The summer camp will be held as usual unless black rainstorm warning or typhoon signal is in force by 8:45 am of 23 July 2019. Outdoor activities may be cancelled in case of inclement weather, but we will endeavour to adjust the schedule of our events.
Safety
Always follow the instructions of colleagues of the Faculty of Engineering and the student hostel. You are liable for any damage and misuse of the public facilities in CUHK campus.
